2015 in Review: The Best of Television

As of today, I’ve watched 14 television shows this year.

Not enormously impressive, I know, but I was impressed in what I saw this year.

Some shows, like Better Call Saul, surprised me in how good they were.

Others, like True Detective, are examples of high hopes shattered into billions of pieces.

I think the best way to to commemorate my thoughts on the year in television is to rank what I have seen, and then talk about what some of my favorite TV things were in 2015.

Personally, 2014 has been a crazy year. Remember when you first heard that Fargo was being turned into a miniseries? Remember thinking, “why?” Remember when you watched it and realized, “you know what, this is pretty good.” Well, you weren’t alone. Fargo went on to win Best Miniseries on Monday night’s Emmys, and now, as the television industry does (or any industry for that matter) when things go right, everyone is trying to catch up. This last week has brought news that TV shows based on Minority Report and Shutter Island are in development, which only means one thing–television series inspired by films are now a trend.
